DENVER (AP) — The U.S. Department of Labor says it has uncovered serious violations of minimum wage laws in Colorado’s child care industry.

Officials say they conducted more than 100 investigations of child care service providers in Denver, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, and recovered more than $390,000 in minimum and overtime wages for more than 850 employees.

The agency says it plans to talk to employers about their responsibilities and ensure they comply.

The Wage and Hour Division is conducting similar investigations in Arkansas, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, Texas, North Dakota and South Dakota.
